Blackjack Etiquette

When you play Blackjack at an actual brick and mortar Blackjack table — instead of playing online like we all love to — knowing proper gestures for the right action is essential to keep the game running smoothly. You need to learn Blackjack etiquettes if you want to take the game more seriously.

Out of several Blackjack moves, hit and stand are the two most used ones. Gestures to signal a hit or a stand are actually very simple. When you are hitting, touch your finger to the table — usually once — and produce a light knocking sound; use the tip of your finger and knock on or touch the table. The dealer will understand your gesture and give you another card immediately. In handheld games, you can scrape your cards against the table to signal the same move.

When you want to stand, simply wave your hand horizontally; this will tell the dealer that you don’t need another card. The same move can also be signaled by sliding your cards under the bet in handheld games.

Knowing these gestures is quite important to ensure pleasant playing sessions. It will keep the game running smoothly and makes it more enjoyable for everyone.
